Mini-Symposium Series 2021
Born from the success of WING UK’s “Think and Drink” events throughout 2020, the WING Global Operations Team was inspired to spotlight country chapters in the Mini-Symposium Series. With the help of our Global Partner, Seequent, whose support focuses on improving the visibility of women within the geothermal industry, we have created the Mini-Symposium series as a monthly platform for WING chapters to introduce themselves, their initiatives, and their goals. TUESDAY — March 30th at 12 noon PST we are proud to present the WING Global Board panel discussion. This is our third Mini Symposium event, which aligns with the World Geothermal Conference 2020+1 kickoff event.

Help a fellow WING member!
Getenesh is a geophysicist working for the Geological Survey of Ethiopia who recently completed a MSc study in Reykjavik, Iceland. She is highly regarded as a rising leader in geothermal development of Ethiopia. While commuting to work last October, Getenesh was severely injured in a bus accident and sustained numerous debilitating injuries. WING has coordinated a gofundme fundraiser to provide Getenesh with financial support for medical bills, and we are reaching out to our members to help her. The next major step is expected to include surgeries on her spine. Any contribution is very much appreciated, and no amount is too small!  Follow her journey in treatment, healing and recovery:

Go for the No! Sponsorship & Membership Drive
WING is “Going for the No” again: we’re asking you to ask someone you know to become a WING member and/or a WING sponsor. Ask until you get a “no”!  Joining WING makes people part of the largest (and fastest growing) movement in the geothermal community – and it’s free.  WING welcomes people of all genders, and we are particularly seeking to increase the number of WINGmen. Male members serve a major role in our mission because equity is crucial for everyone, and men are important allies and advocates for WING. If we don’t ask, how can people say “yes”? Tell your friends and colleagues about WING so they will join us in our quest for gender equality in the geothermal community! Your support enables us to increase visibility of gender issues and solutions, carry out activities that advance women’s careers, and demonstrate the benefits of workplace diversity. A wide variety of sponsorship levels are available:

Connect! Taco Tuesday
The WING Global Team held a virtual networking event in conjunction with the February 2021 (virtual) Stanford Geothermal Workshop. 25 participants from 10 different time zones used breakout rooms to play WING-O (similar to BINGO), a new game that facilitates mixing and mingling in small groups.
This event had previously been held in-person in Palo Alto, California, but the virtual event allowed people from all over the globe to attend. One participant said after attending Taco Tuesday, “These events are great to make connections, start cool discussions and have fun at the same time.” Find out about future events through WING posts on Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
